Our mission
We aim to publish clear, accurate and useful information about New Jersey: explainers on news that affects residents and practical guides to living in and exploring the state.
Sourcing and fact-checking
- We rely on primary and official sources wherever possible: state and local government websites, official agency announcements, public records, court documents and statements from organizations named in a story.
- Facts such as dates, prices, fees, deadlines and eligibility rules are checked against the official source before publication.
- We do not publish rumors or unverified claims as fact. Where information is still developing, we say so.
- We do not invent quotes, sources, reviews or people.
Updates
Guides that depend on changing information, such as tax rebates, transit fares, beach badge prices or event dates, are reviewed and updated regularly. When we make a significant update, we change the “updated” date on the article.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it. Minor errors, such as typos, are corrected without a note. Factual errors are corrected promptly and, where the error was meaningful, we add a short correction note at the end of the article that explains what changed. Independence, advertising and sponsored content
- Advertisers and commercial partners have no influence over our editorial decisions.
- We do not sell guest posts or links, and we do not accept payment for favorable coverage.
- If we publish sponsored content or use affiliate links, they will be clearly labeled as such.
